{Sunset Beach} | Raleigh Family Photography

I love the mountains but in recent years I’ve come to love the ocean even more.  It brings me so much delight watching my children play and explore the oceanside, building sand castles and forts. This is Sunset Beach and it’s  awesome and the weather was perfect. We walked down the shoreline about a mile to Bird Island and saw the Kindred Mailbox and jetty built a number of years back. Sunset Beach has quickly become my favorite beach. I love how common it is to see pelicans, dolphins, turtles, sand dollars, and deer that would practically eat out of your hand.

He was only feet away and stood looking at us for the longest time.

and because I have my iPhone with almost all of the time…

A few of us are still doing the Glimpses project.

I decided to take on a 365 Photo Challenge for 2012 – taking at least one photo each day.  While I would have loved to do it with my big ol’ fancy camera, in the end I decided that the one camera that is always with me is my iPhone.  It’s been awesome so far documenting each day.  I can’t wait to get them all in an album.

My family had a wonderful week relaxing and retreating at Holden Beach. It was such a blessing to have so much uninterrupted time with my family. I loved it. Holden Beach was quiet and gave us so many wonderful memories. Hermit crabs, exploring the beach for Sand Dollars (or “Sand Money” as my daughter calls them), riding bikes, watersliding, having fun with Body Boards, exploring the local parks, eating shrimp burgers. The kids had a great time when we explored by the marsh area and found a nest of 10o’s of baby fiddler crabs. Nothing like the simple pleasures of childhood.

My kids could not wait to have a walk on the beach the first night we arrived. Needless to say they ended up completely drenched.

(yes, there are a number of Bulldogs Alumni in the Wright Family)

we adopted a couple of Hermit Crabs (affectionately named Will & Willette) from the Wings store. 🙂

Southport is awesome. Can’t wait to visit again.

We explored several parks in the area.

He loved his shark necklace.

lots of card games (and a bit of cheating to boot…heehee)

We also checked out Sunset Beach – loved it! There is the most fun grill there that has walls with chalkboards, darts, and ice cream stand inside.
