Happy Sunday, everyone! You might remember this family from their fall session – their boys are now 3 and 1 – time flies! They really are such a precious family and I’m so glad I got to work with them again!

I’ve been reflecting a lot this week on what a privelege is to capture memories for others through photographs. It started when I had the opportunity to do an artist interview with a fellow photographer who lives in the Pacific Northwest. She shared a story of someone close to her passing away and all she had left of him were photographs. Then yesterday I attended the funeral of a dear, sweet older woman of my church and again I was reminded as I saw her precious grandbabies and great-grandbabies walk by that photographs shown and stories told of her were going to be the only “memories” these little ones would have of this woman who loved them oh, so much. I know for myself – the photos I have my family and children are priceless to me. So, to all of my clients, thank you for trusting me to step into your lives for just a few moments and capture images that I hope will be dear to you for many years to come.

I’m excited about a new custom book that I’m offering. It includes 20 beautifully bordered images and it’s perfectly sized for showing off to friends, family and coworkers! These books are gorgeous and are a wonderful keepsake. Ask me for more details and also how you can get your copy FREE!

I’m trying some new techniques in lighting. It’s crazy fun. Here are some of my first shots with this new lighting approach.

Meet Miss E. I recently did her homeschool group’s senior photos and it was fun to return to some of the same spots to get some individual shots with Miss E. We had a great time together. We found some really cool textury spots (i.e. a bit dilapated, smelly and rundown, but hey you gotta do what you gotta do to get the shot). And a highlight was sitting on the train tracks and the train blaring his horn at us because we did not see him barrelling down the train tracks towards us. Oops.

She’s an incredible classical pianist.

And some lovely spots we found downtown.

Hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Wow, what a wonderful time I had with little Miss C! We got some stunning portraits in our time together. Thanks Mom and Dad for working so hard along side of me to create some beautiful images of your sweet, baby girl. Cannot wait to share the final images with you!

And a gorgeous 20×20 storyboard. I love prints like this mounted with a linen spray – they look like true pieces of artwork.

It was great to meet your family!

Well, I was able to retrieve some of the files…Still working on the rest. I heard recently someone say “The days are long and the years are short”. .. It’s so hard to believe my children are now 4 & 3. Have a great night!

…that’s what all the data, files, pictures, videos and everything else on your computers boils down to – a bunch of 1s and a bunch of 0s.. Wild isnt’ it? Much to my dismay I went out with my daughter last night to take her “3 year old” pictures and popped my card into the card reader to download them to my hard drive and the images WERE NOT THERE! Needless to say I’m in the midst of trying to sort out data recovery (I’m praying it goes well!), but it was a huge reminder to me as to how important photographs are to me and how sad I’ll be if I cannot retrieve those files. But it’s also a reminder to me to let all you guys know how important it is to BACK UP YOUR FILES!!  Especially if you bought digital negatives from me – if you have not yet backed up your CD – do it! Do it now!  Not only my files but all of your years worth of precious images of your loved ones. You won’t regret taking the time to do it!…I’ll letcha know how it goes with my data recovery.

I’ve had a couple of insane weeks trying to meet some project deadlines. In the midst of the deadlines I had some fun photo ops including doing my daughter’s preschool’s photos AND getting the opportunity to meet these 15 students who are in a homeschool co-op together. What fun we had!! I really had a blast and I’m thrilled with the images that we created.

I think this one was everyone’s fave…

All the best to you guys as you move forward in life!
