Archive for December, 2008

It’s one of our annual traditions to take a family photo at a local nursery and this year was no exception. Thanks to my trusty tripod we got one of the 4 of us! The Olde English font we used is also a tradition. My husband’s grandfather was a professional photographer and many times did my husband’s family’s Christmas cards -  they always used the English font on their cards/letters and so to preserve one bit of family tradition we are doing it, too.  May you all have a wonderful and blessed Christmas holiday!

Best wishes,

The Wright Family

Meet Miss B. She is an absolute sweetie pie!! She is 6 months old and as I’ve said before this is one of my absolute *favorite* ages to photograph. :-) Here are a few of my faves from the session. Isn’t she an absolute doll baby?!?

And I can’t help myself – but I just LOVE this angle – look at those sweet, sweet eyelashes and lips.

Okay, I just love this one too!! :)

This family was a true delight to meet and work with.

Hope you guys enjoy your sneak peek!

{New Baby!}

December 14, 2008

My new baby arrived last week!!! A Canon 5D – yippee! To be honest with you now that the Mark II’s are on the scene it’s a wonderful time to capitalize on the used market – and so I did! I’ve finally had some time today to test it out. I realize that there are some things only photographers can relate to and get absolutely stoked about – one of them is noiseless (at least relatively noiseless) images at high ISO’s! and MAN, O, MAN can the 5d perform! I just finished doing some snappy shots at my church’s Christmas program and I was so blown away with how great they were in the low light situation!! Yahoo! (Can you tell I’m excited??) :)

Anyways, here’s a couple of shots of my kiddos from today (and mind you **I** did not dress my daughter – SHE did! :)

And the hand in the pocket was HIS doing, not mine. :)

Have a great night folks!

{Winding Down}

December 11, 2008

Well, this holiday season is truly winding down for me – Whew! It’s been quite a wild ride of meeting with many new people and capturing wonderful photos that I hope will be cherished for many years to come! I was reflecting earlier today about how tremendous this last year has been – this officially wraps up my first year of business and I’ve learned and grown so much and there have been NEW things along the way… a new website, new clients, new computer, new equipment, new venues, new products, new monitor calibrators…and many FIRSTS…learning how to do taxes (yuck! :) , learning how to handle workflow, orders, setting up shopping carts and slideshows, creating albums (custom and otherwise), researching the best labs to give the highest quality possible to my clients, and setting up so many systems!  And SO much more! I look to next year and anticipate getting everything running like a “well-oiled machine”. :)

BTW, I had an opportunity to take photos with children and Santa this past weekend at my husband’s office & so while I still had loaned lighting equipment in my possesson I thought I’d grab a few shots of my kiddos…

and as you can see my kiddos ransacked my seamless paper. hee!

And if you’ll notice “x” marks the spot where I told them to sit and “look at Mommy!”. :) Well, in 2009 I have a lot of goals and one of those is to learn more about lighting to help supplement when needed when working with babies and newborns. More later! Have a great day!

{Black & White}

December 4, 2008

I really do love black and white images and I’m always searching for even better ways to create them. I’ve been playing around just a little with some new methods and I love the results of this image. In January, when things are slower, I plan to work on more of this type stuff as well as more admin stuff too! Hope you all are having a wonderful start to your holiday season!

{Christmas Season}

December 1, 2008

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! The Wright household has already started the Christmas season by putting up decorations. The kids sure do love the Christmas tree and all the decorations and lights.

Things are winding down some with sessions and the big focus now is filling all of your orders for Christmas. Just as a reminder, if you are wanting to order any items as Christms gifts I’ll need your order and payment by this Saturday, December 6th. Thanks so much!

Hope you all have a beautiful season with family and friends!
